Confident India looks to win 3rd match against China tomorrow (9th September)

HockeyNew Delhi | September | Tuesday | 08, 2015 :: Subsequent to their resounding victory over DPR Korea and Singapore in the first two matches, the Junior Women Team is riding high on confidence to secure another impressive win against China tomorrow in their third pool match in the ongoing 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015.

After playing their opening match against DPR Korea where India outplayed them by 13-0, followed by a roaring victory over Singapore by 12-0, the young Indian girls are high on spirit to give a tough competition to the host team. Whereas, China is leaving no scope of any slip-ups at their end as they too would want to seal a win against India. Chinese eves beat DPR Korea by 11-0 in their first pool match.

The two teams had a head-on with each other at the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament 2015 at Netherlands where India lost to China by 2-4. However, in tomorrow’s match the Indians are working extensively to deal with China’s long passes and will aim to hold them in their half and thereby create maximum goal-scoring prospects for themselves.

Speaking on their next clash against India, Coach Baljeet Singh said, “We have played supremely well in the last matches and hope to continue the momentum in the next clash against China. Each match of the pool phase is important as it will help us to perform more confidently in the knock-out phase. China is indeed a very strong team and the girls will have to stick to their strategies and continue to motivate themselves to play better from the last game played.”

Commenting on the team’s strength and strategies, Captain Rani added, “I am really happy with the fact that we have won both the matches played till now. This has made us even more confident of playing the matches ahead. With a credit of defeating DPR Korea and Singapore with a huge goal margin 13-0 and 12- 0 respectively, we intend to replicate the results in the next match against China. We aim for a better penalty corner conversion rate and make our attack even stronger in the match tomorrow. We will aim to carry out our game strategies firmly and look to win tomorrow’s clash.”

The 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 is a qualification tournament for the FIH Junior World Cup (Women) 2016. India clash against China tomorrow (9th September) at 04.45 pm IST.
