Ranchi, Jharkhand | November | Friday | 06, 2015 :: XISS “Confluence 2015” celebrations began with a Eucharist Mass conducted by His Eminence Telephore P. Cardinal Toppo. The mass was attended by the institute’s Director Fr. Alex Ekka, assistant director Fr. Ranjit Toppo, other distinguished SJs and esteemed alumni who thanked the Almighty for the wonderful 60 years of the institute and sought wisdom for the journey ahead.
The mass was then followed by a bike rally to XIPT, Namkum: The proposed site for the institute’s new campus. At XIPT Namkum, an interesting cricket match was held between the teams of the alumni and the present students of XISS. The match was won by the students. A tug of war was also held which was won by the alumni.
In the evening, the gathering was addressed by Raghubar Das, CM Jharkhand. He emphasized on developing the Rural sector, Industrial Sector and IT sector. He also placed importance on skills development and his vision of developing a knowledge city in the state. He also spoke about the nodal role that XISS plays in that vision. Raghubar Das is the first CM to have visited the institute in the past 60 years. Former directors, Father Francken and Father Christopher Lakra were also felicitated.
This was followed by the XISS Vision Chaupal which was held at the XISS Courtyard . It was hosted and moderated by Prof M.H. Ansari. The chaupal discussed the road map ahead for XISS. It discussed how XISS will work during the corporate and societal environmental changes. It also discussed how the institute can continue being socially and educationally relevant.
