11 April 2013 :: For the first time in the History of Indian Premier League [ IPL ], there is going to be Cricket matches in Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. First match will be between Delhi Daredevils & Pune Warriors India on 28th of April 2013 and second will be between Delhi Daredevils & Kolkata Knight Riders on 1st of May 2013.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium (also known as Chhattisgarh International Cricket Stadium) is a new cricket field in the city of Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. It seats 65,000 spectators and opened in 2008. It is the second largest cricket stadium in India. Situated in the Capital city of chhattisgarh at National Highway 6 and just 6 km from Raipur Airport, it has one of the best infrastructures.
Stadium hosted a Half-Marathon, with the theme “Let us run” on December 16, 2012 to mark Vijay Diwas. Sunil Gavaskar had rated this stadium to as one of the best stadiums in the country and had proposed to utilize it for all types of matches.
The First International Standard cricket match was played between Canada’s national cricket team and the State of Chhattisgarh, the game was an ODI, played on the 21st of November 2010.
