Guwahati, 19 June 2012:: The proposed press club is expected to be a state-of-the-art building complex that would stand out as a landmark of the pre-historic city.
The building will have all the modern facilities like conference hall,
media centre, guest houses with provisions of high tech modern IT
gadgets and instruments along with V-Sets for instant access to and
from all over the globe.
The building is planned and designed with total application of green
concepts such as use of green construction materials, energy
efficient, environment friendly, efficient management for use of
natural light, natural air and solar energy to minimize electricity
consumption, healthy indoor ambience, proper drainage and garbage
disposal facilities, rain water harvesting etc, informed Er JN
Khataniar, who has prepared the design.
Other important features of the proposed five-storied press club
building will be earthquake resistant design, pre- engineered multi
level building complex with steel frame structure for better
structural responses, high quality fire fighting arrangements, car
parking, underground water reservoir, etc.
A memorandum with the print-outs of the presentation was handed over
to the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi by Nava Thakuria, secretary of the press club.
It needs to be mentioned here that the press club hall was officially
converted into an air-conditioning auditorium from June 18, 2012.
Three AC machines presented by Satyam Foundation were activated in the
presence of the head of State government.
