IIM Ranchi hosted the 9th edition of TEDxIIMRanchi 

Ranchi, Jharkhand  | February  | 04, 2023 ::  04th February 2023, Saturday: The Indian Institute of Management Ranchi hosted the 9th edition of TEDxIIMRanchi at its permanent campus in Prabandhan Nagar, Ranchi.

The event started by lighting of the auspicious lamp and national song.

Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi addressed the audience, and welcomed the esteemed guests to the glorious event.

Stating that the event is a celebration of ideas, he went on to emphasize the power of ideas and how they are crucial to building a better world.

Prof Srivastava explained that the idea can be explained as “you plus anything”. He encouraged the attendees to ideate and experiment, learning from the experience irrespective of the result.

The audience was now introduced to the event by playing the official TEDx introduction video that explained the global phenomenon that is TEDx.

The event has had a rich history of bringing ideas and communities together.

Dr Jyoti K Parekh was the first of many illustrious speakers.

Dr Parikh is the Executive Director of Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), New Delhi.

Having served as a Member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change – India, she was part of the IPCC authors team that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.

She talked about different green sources of energy and the ways to deploy them. She suggested that systematic changes are needed

 

After Chef Ajay, Mr Rajan Singh gave his TEDx talk. He is the founder of HabitStrong, a startup that runs online habit-building boot camps. An IIT graduate and an MBA from Wharton, he has previously served in the Indian Police Service as Trivandrum Police Commissioner, a consultant with McKinsey, and an investment professional with a private equity fund. Mr Singh advised the attendees to find focus amongst the chaos around us and how we should be dealing with distraction.

Fourth speaker of the day, Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, is an Indian Journalist, Documentary Filmmaker & a Men’s Rights Activist. She is known to make a strong case for the protection of men’s rights – highlighting issues ranging from false accusations to domestic violence to sexual crimes perpetrated upon them. Through her talk she raised awareness about the crimes against men. She also explained how in a world with

must remember to avoid the chaos of injustice.

The next talk of the event was given by Tapesh Kumar and Prachi Goswami, popularly known as ‘Tapchi’, who are a popular pilot couple known for their YouTube channel Boeing Boy. Tapesh Kumar became the youngest captain in the world at the age of 25. Prachi Goswami, a former national-level swimmer, has been in the aviation sector for over 8 years with more than 1500 hours of flying experience. They manage Vinod Yadav Aviation Academy to train upcoming pilots. The duo used their life experiences to send the message that with hard work and dedication a person can navigate through any chaos that they face.

The sixth speaker of the day, Manya Singh is an Indian actor and Femina Miss India 2021 Runner up and was crowned as Miss India Uttar Pradesh in 2020. She has also won the Dadasaheb Phalke Icon Award Film for the Most Inspiring Woman of the Year, Global India National Stardom Award and Kashi Vaishvik Gaurav Sammaan. In her inspiring address she took the audience through her Miss India journey and explained that life isn’t easy but chaotic and beautiful.

The most notable speaker of the event, Meenakashi Lekhi, came next to give her TEDx talk. She is an Indian politician, Lok Sabha MP from New Delhi constituency and the current Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India. She has served as Chairperson of the Committee on Public Undertakings (2019-2021), Committee on Data Protection Bill (2019-2021) and Committee on Privileges (2015-2019). She has held the post of National Vice President, BJP Mahila Morcha in the past and was on the Women’s Reservation Bill and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Bill Drafting Committees.
Through her talk she inspired students to look inside themselves and concert through the internal chaos in order to prevail over the externalities. She also emphasized on taking inspiration from the country’s rich history to build a great future or “Amrit Kal”.

The final TEDx talk of the day was given by Aaquib Wani. Listed in the prestigious Forbes 30 under 30 list for Design ’21, Aaquib is a self-taught experiential designer & art director with creative expertise in spaces, festivals, sets, interiors, interactive installations, weddings, visual, and graphic design. Despite having no formal training or education in design, he has gained immense success in his career. From working as the art director for a music magazine to learning the boundaries of space design, he has mastered the art of not just 2D but also 3D design. Through his entertaining and amazing talk Mr Aaquib inspired the students to channelize the chaos of life into ideating and creating a beautiful world.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the licensee of the event Aayush. He thanked the Speakers, for enriching the audience with their wisdom and Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava and Prof. Manish Kumar for making the event a possibility.

The ninth edition of TEDxIIMRanchi drew its curtains leaving the audience filled with great enthusiasm and ideas that have the potential to change the world.
