Decision to postpone the movement on the assurance of Agriculture Minister and Secretary to Chief Minister

Ranchi, Jharkhand  | February  | 18, 2023 ::  On the positive assurance of Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh and Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Secretary Vinay Choubey, today it was decided to postpone the state-wide agitation going on for the last four days in protest against the Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2022. In view of the chaos that has arisen in the state after the ongoing statewide protest by the traders, this meeting with the Jharkhand Chamber was organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on the instructions of the Honorable Chief Minister. Chamber President Kishor Mantri kept his point in detail in front of him and expressed his main concern that due to the implementation of the Bill, agricultural work, agro-based industries, trade and small-scale grassroots vegetable vendors, which are automatically developing in Jharkhand, will be affected. All those engaged in development work will be affected. Due to the effect of this bill, the corruption of officials will prevail in agriculture, agro-based industries and business world and among the poor and poor. The delegation clearly kept the point of reducing the fee to zero, on which the Agriculture Minister promised that all the demands of the Jharkhand Chamber will be considered, without the consent of the Chamber, the rules of the bill will not be made. The Agriculture Minister and Secretary to the Chief Minister said that the government will take care that there will be no ill effects on rice mills and businessmen associated with it. Along with this, he urged necessary cooperation from the Federation for setting up more and more food processing units in the state.

In the meeting of the coordination committee of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Central Committee held before this meeting, supporting the movement of the traders, the members submitted their memorandum to the Honorable Chief Minister and requested to consider the demands of the traders. The coordination committee held a meeting with the Jharkhand Chamber and urged them to postpone the movement. On the occasion, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, Binod Pandey, Honorable Minister Alamgir Alam, Agriculture Minister, Kumar Raja and representatives of Congress.
