Ranchi, Jharkhand | December | 21, 2020 :: The Indian Institute of Management inaugurated 22nd Annual Convention of the Strategic Management Forum. This event will be conducted for three days (21st -23rd) December 2020 and the topic for the event is Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship: A reflection on the last three decades and the way forward.
The Director of the Institute, Prof. Shailendra Singh welcomed all the guest speakers, faculty, staff and students connected physically and online mode. He discussed the journey of the Institute since its establishment and how it has moved to be one of the leading educational institutions of the country. He added that IIM Ranchi started with 40 students, 1 program and 12 teachers and now the IIM Fraternity has grown up to 46 faculty members, 5 programs and more than 600 students. He also talked about Business Analytics course which will commence shortly and added that soon they will be coming up with a 5-year Integrated management course. He said that, “We aim to put entrepreneurship as a holistic approach to the people who are working with medium and small enterprises and they are benefited from the same.”
The event was graced by the Shri. K. R. S Murthy, Former Director IIM Bangalore as the Chief Guest. He said that, “I think, in the teaching of strategic management, it is extremely important now to focus on the larger purpose than the bottom line. Already the stage 5 leadership and all that concentrating on humility, lack of egotistic decision making, is already being put on the wayside. I think India has a great role to play in developing leadership at the higher consciousness.”
Prof. A. Sahay, Dean (Research), Professor of Strategic Management, BIMTECH during the Inaugural ceremony said, “Let all of us, all the members, think of how to promote research in Strategy field and that should be our main agenda item.”
Prof. Sunil Shukla, Director General, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, said, “Entrepreneurship has been gaining ground, not only in IIMs, but in other institutes too. And I’m very happy that IIM Ranchi has prioritised entrepreneurship, not only for optional courses, but for compulsory courses, as entrepreneurship is the need of the hour.”
Prof. Krishna Kumar, Former Director IIM Kozhikode graced the occasion as the keynote speaker and he spoke on the topic Strategic choices for making India self-reliant
and said, “This topic is so contemporary and relevant that I find there could be no better occasion than this convention to discuss the issue.”
