New Delhi | December | 08, 2016 :: Indian National Bar Association (INBA) celebrated its path breaking 05th Annual Event titled “International Conference on Law & Policy Issues”
to commemorate the 67th Constitution Day of the Republic of India at Shangri La’s Eros Hotel, New Delhi.
The annual event this year attracted more than 250 prominent & eminent dignitaries from at least 5 countries and 4 continents, leaders, researches, advocates, practitioners, Govt. officials, policy makers, CEOs, General Counsels & Heads of the legal department of various MNCs & Indian companies.
This year’s event was also significant & eventful for the fact that INBA got the patronage of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India to exhibit the much loved “Make in India” logo which is synonymous now for making India an International Destination for investment by all concerned. INBA stands indebted to the (DIPP), for bestowing upon in this honor to promote “Make in India” in the legal & social arena.
The topics for the event were all aimed in one way or the other towards the theme of “Make in India” and how to make India reach the top 50 by 2017 for ease of doing business, which is the aim of PM Narendra Modi.
The conference was inaugurated by Law Secretary ,Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India Suresh Chandra who was the Chief Guest . Along with Sarosh Zaiwalla, Senior Partner Zaiwalla & Co International Law Firm from UK, Suresh Chandra gave his Key Note address. Kaviraj Singh Secretary General INBA while giving the vote of thanks at the inaugural highlighted the activities of the Indian National Bar Association. He stated that INBA is a think tank and has submitted various suggestions to government of India relating to public policy and law. S.Ramaswamy Chair Person General Counsel Section of INBA read the Preamble of the Constitution of India in remembrance as our humble tribute to the founding fathers of the constitution to renew our pledge to protect, preserve and enhance the values enshrined in our constitution.
There was a book launch which was the result of an INBA nationwide survey of respondents and thus resulting in the publication titled “ Garima – A perspective on Sexual Harassment at work place” published by Netrika Consulting.
Topics covered at the event covered areas relating to Infrastructure, Media & Entertainment, Intellectual Property, Arbitration, GST, Cyber Security, Legal Sector reforms and Start ups. Special session included the first ever discussion by Indian legal community on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and How Legal Industry can contribute in Make in India campaign.
Specifically, the conference focused on approaches to complex challenging behaviors, contributing policy issues and new developments in law.
The eminent jury comprised of Senior Advocate Ram Jethmalani, Dr. Subhash C Kashyap, Tabrez Ahmed, Manish Lamba and S. Ramaswamy.
