International Summit on Management Case Studies (ISMCs) 2021 : Concluded

Ranchi, Jharkhand | June | 14, 2021 :: The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy and Governance, IIM Ranchi conducted an International Summit on Management Case Studies (ISMCs) 2021from 11 – 13 June, 2021 in virtual mode.
The International Summit on Management Case Studies was commenced with an interactive session by Dr. Chandrakant Lahariya, who is a medical epidemiologic and public policy and health systems expert. He is a very prolific author and has a number of publications to his name. His latest book “Till We Win: India’s Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic” has been released and discusses ideas on the lessons that we can take in fighting the Covid 19 pandemic and how it shapes the way ahead.
Through the two days of the Summit, 16 cases were presented, and all the cases were based on how indigenous technology would help or combat, the pandemic situation that existed in our country last year. Out of the 16 cases, those which are good enough and having an approach to real life, will be shortlisted for the publication in book format.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. Sandeep Puri, Asian Institute of Management, Philippines on the topic “My experience with Case Writing”. Prof. Vishal Gupta, IIM Ahmedabad addressed the valedictory session on the topic “Principled-pragmatism: Navigating Life’s Ethical Dilemmas?”. Prof. Sanjeev Prashar IIM Raipur also spoke in the event.
Dr. Lahariya highlighted that COVID-19 pandemic has put the spotlight on critical gaps in areas such as surveillance, diagnostics, essential medicines, protective equipment, supply chains, infection prevention and control, water, sanitation and hygiene, and the health workforce.
He highlighted that, more specifically, pandemics can only be dealt with preparedness. The outbreaks have emerged from the wild pathogens or wild. And finally there is a wide spread use of antibiotics, antimicrobials further aggravating the situation.
