Jharkhand Government initiates the process of state beautification :: Creating awareness among the residents while beautifying the cities

Ranchi  Jharkhand  | March  | 26, 2021 ::  The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren has envisioned to showcase the true beauty of Jharkhand to the rest of the world. The government is working tirelessly to establish a new identity for the state in the field of tourism. Additionally, other small initiatives are also being taken up for beautification of cities across the state.

* Beautification of Ranchi under ‘Ramnik Ranchi’ campaign

With the vision to generate awareness around cleanliness among the residents of the state capital and give the city a unique identity, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation under the State Urban Development Authority of Jharkhand came up with the initiative ‘Ramnik Ranchi’. The walls, which used to be full of stains and dirt have now become attraction points, especially among the young population of the state who use these walls as selfie points. Local tourists visiting the state capital are also appreciating this unique initiative taken by the state government and clicking selfies to share the same across social media.

Recently during his visit to Birsa Smriti Park being developed in Ranchi, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren conducted a surprise inspection of the state capital and instructed concerned officials to work extensively on the cleanliness and beautification of the city. His instructions included painting of all the stained walls in the city, increased plantation on the road dividers and reduction in the blowing dust on roads.
RMC(Ranchi Municipal Commission) Commissioner, Shri Mukesh Kumar Said that “Major locations across the city are being painted with traditional and modern art forms whereas 10 green walls are being placed across the city to make people aware about the importance of green and clean locality. Also, almost 450 locations have been marked across the RMC area which was full of garbage. All these places are being cleaned in mission mode.

“As per the vision of the government and honourable chief minister Shri Hemant Soren, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation will not leave any stone unturned to make Ranchi one of the cleanest and beautiful cities of India ”, He added.

‘PAINT MY CITY’ campaign to beautify cities and create awareness

Ramgarh city is the district headquarter of Ramgarh district and is situated 45kms from the state capital, Ranchi. Ramgarh has coal mines, stone crushers, brick chimneys in abundance and coal-laden trucks called ‘Hyvas’ are a common sight across the district. However, recently done wall paintings are changing the look and feel of the district for the better. The vibrant colours and vivid representation along with messages of mass awareness is noteworthy.

In a bid to beautify the district, the Ramgarh administration collaborated with many youth organizations, NGOs, volunteer painters and initiated the ‘PAINT MY CITY’ campaign. The administration assigned different areas to the volunteers. The organizations were given directions to create paintings on the wall in such a way that the beauty of the city is enhanced and at the same time key messages of awareness are delivered.

The government provided them with all the required tools and paint materials. Within a few weeks, the walls of Ramgarh District have not only become a matter of discussion among bystanders and travellers but also creating mass awareness. With the collaborative effort, over 300 government buildings, schools and other places of gathering have been painted depicting key messages through traditional Jharkhand paintings.

The core idea is to beautify the city and educate people about different government schemes, the importance of sanitation, nutrition, health and promote local art and culture. The initiative was initially targeted at government buildings, schools, and common public spaces in the city. In future, the plan is to take the initiative to the rural areas as well.
