New Delhi : The two-day National Executive Meeting of National Union of Journalists-India (NUJ-I) will begin at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh from May 19. The meeting will discuss the various challenges emerging in the media and also the various problems being faced by the mediapersons across the country.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Vijay Bahuguna will inaugurate the meeting. Senior saint and head of Parmarth Niketan Ashram Swami Chidananda Muni Saraswati and various ministers from the Uttarakhand Government will also attend the meeting to voice the problems of the mediapersons and also to share their views on the emerging trends in the Media.
NUJ (I) National President Shri Pragyananda Chaudhary, Secretary General Shri Ras Bihari and many senior leaders including vice presidents, secretaries and other office bearers will attend the meeting. By and large over 200 senior journalists from different parts of the country will participate in the meeting. Finance Minister of Uttarakhand Dr Indira Haridyesh will speak at the concluding ceremony.
The two-day meeting will have detailed discussion over the NUJ (I) demand for creation of Media Council and enactment of a Journalist Protection Act. The meeting also will have discussion over the self-regulation in the media.
