Ranchi, Jharkhand | August | 19, 2021 :: Vriksharopan Abhiyan-2021 was carried out throughout the country by the Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India to mark “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” as country celebrates 75 years of Independence.
Central Coalfields Ltd, Jharkhand-based subsidiary of Coal India, under the guidance of Ministry of Coal undertook a plethora of activities varying from plantation, distribution of saplings, etc on the occassion.
CCL employees and stakeholders applauded the foundation laying ceremony and inauguration of ecological parks by Hon’ble Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble MoS for Coal Raosaheb Patil Danve.
CCL also celebrated the Vriksharopan Abhiyaan with fervor and vigor. Over 1,00,000 saplings were planted and distributed across 53 different locations within the company. At the company headquarters in Ranchi Kanke MLA Shri Sammari Lal along with CMD, CCL P.M. Prasad, Director Technical (P&P) Shri Bhola Singh, Director (Finance) Shri K. R Vasudevan and other dignitaries planted saplings to mark the occasion.
Similar programs were organized in the operational areas of the company where Hon’ble member of Rajya Sabha Shri Samir Oraon, Ms Amba Prasad Hon’ble MLA Barkagaon, Hon’ble MLA Gomia Shri Lambodar Mahto, Ex Member of Parliament Shri Ramendra Kumar, local mukhiyas, state government officials and other stakeholders took part.
Minister Joshi in his message said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coal sector is devoted to fulfill the energy demands of the country through sustainable mining and due emphasis to the environmental considerations.
He further added that the entire country is observing “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” and Coal India, along with its subsidiaries, is actively taking part in the celebrations.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, Coal India, along with its different subsidiaries, has undertaken various initiatives to promote sustainable mining. The company is implementing First Mile Connectivity projects in its operational areas with an aim to develop into a net zero emission company. These initiatives will reduce the pollution and boost efficiency. Massive scale plantations and land reclamation activities are likewise being implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of coal mining.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD, CCL Prasad stated that under the guidance of Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi and leadership of Coal Secretary Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Chairman Coal India Shri Pramod Agrawal, Central Coalfields Limited is committed to contribute in the “Atma Nirbhar Mission” of the Hon’ble Prime Minister through sustainable mining.
CCL has accorded utmost priority to ecology development and pollution control. The company is carrying out various sustainable development projects for environmental protection.
The ceremony was attuned according to the COVID-19 times. Everybody present wore masks and observed social distancing. GM (Environment) Soumitra Singh and his team played an important role in the program’s success.
