Telangana Police Safety Wing, launched pilot project on ‘Volunteering Programme’ in 5 colleges.

Hyderabad | February | 11, 2020 :: Telangana Police Safety Wing, headed by Inspector General of Police, Ms Swati Lakra launched pilot project on ‘Volunteering Programme’ in 5 colleges (Badruka College of Commerce And Arts, Arora Degree and PG College, Jagruti Degree & PG College, Sreyas Institute of Engineering & Technology and Indira Priyadarshini Govt. Degree College for Women) in Hyderabad City.

Dr Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to AP & Telangana (Chief Guest for the day), Ms B. Sumathi, IPS, DIG Women Safety Wing, Telangana; Ms B. Seshu Kumari, Director, SCERT, Telangana State; Dr. Manjulata, Joint Director, Commissionerate of College Education and Mr. Ajay Singh, Founder, Lead Life Foundation and Vikas Gora, Deputy Director – South HUB, Save the Children, India were the guests of honour for the launch.

More than 3000 students from 12 colleges, Telangana Police Department, SHE Teams, Media and many more participated in this historic launch.

Government of Telangana, Women Safety Wing has partnered with Save the Children and Lead Life Foundation for the implementation of 2-year long ‘Volunteering Programme’ which will ensure an establishment of well-informed youth-led ‘Safety Clubs’- for children, girls and women in each educational institution and cascade it across the state. The objective is to promote a culture of the comprehensive safety of children and women in schools and colleges across the state through safetyb clubs which will add more eyes and ears on the ground and help in building citizen police approach.
