Ranchi, Jharkhand | January | 11, 2019 :: Winters in XISS marks the beginning of the most significant event of our sports calendar. The Inter-Departmental Basketball Tournament began with great enthusiasm on 11th January, 2018. The inauguration ceremony for Sports Day 2019 was held today at the Manresa Ground. The ceremony started with a short speech on Sportsman Spirit by Fr. Pradeep Kerketta S.J., Asst. Director, XISS. Dr. (Fr.) Alexius Ekka S.J., Director, XISS emphasized on strengthening the inter-departmental relationship and also to encourage the Sportsman Spirit among the students.
Fr. Pradeep Kerketta S.J., Asst. Director, XISS welcomed the audience. He also released the balloons in the presence of all the HODs, Faculties and the students, which marked the opening of the Sports Event.
The event consists of a total of 15 teams of which 12 teams played today. The first day of the event witnessed four girls team and eight boys team battling it out. The teams were:
1. Girls Match-1 (RM vs Finance) : winner Finance 1
2. Girls Match-2 (Marketing vs IT): winner IT
3. Boys Match-1 (Marketing 2 vs IT 1): winner Marketing 2
4. Boys Match-2 (IT 2 vs Finance 2): winner IT 2
5. Boys match-3 (Finance 1 vs RM 1): winner RM 1
6. Boys Match-4 (RM 2 vs HRM 2): HRM 2
All the teams were phenomenal and played with great enthusiasm. But every match has only one winner. Among the girls, Finance played stunningly well leaving the audience in awe. RM 1 boys left everyone spellbound. The tournament got a fabulous headstart.
